Strategic Procurement

Global sourcing and technical-commercial advisory for industrial buyers: supplier identification and qualification, vendor due diligence, factory inspection through qualified parties, negotiation support and market intelligence.

How we help

What this pathway covers

We help clients run strategic procurement end to end: supplier identification and qualification, RFQ coordination, negotiation support, quality coordination and execution support within an agreed scope.

Procurement teams in process industries carry a workload that rarely matches their headcount: hundreds of specifications, unfamiliar vendor markets, and technical questions that need an engineer's judgement before a purchase order can be raised. Strategic procurement support closes that gap without adding permanent overhead.

MINCAT provides the technical and market capability alongside your procurement function. We identify suppliers across regions, qualify them technically and commercially, coordinate factory inspection and due diligence through qualified parties, follow production and QA/QC, support negotiation and coordinate logistics. Where you need an outside view — on a market, a supplier or a make-versus-buy question — we provide technical-commercial advisory on a defined scope.

Portfolio

Scope is defined per engagement. Where a technology or product is proprietary, it is licensed or supplied by its owner; MINCAT identifies, evaluates and coordinates.

  • Global sourcing
  • Supplier identification
  • Technical qualification
  • Commercial comparison
  • Vendor due diligence
  • Factory inspection through qualified parties
  • Production follow-up
  • QA/QC coordination

Typical requirements

Situations in which clients engage us

If your requirement is not on this list, describe it anyway. The list is illustrative, not a menu.

  • Annual procurement programme for consumables, spares or packaged equipment
  • Vendor development in a region where your team has no presence
  • Due diligence on a new supplier before a strategic contract
  • Negotiation support on a high-value technology or equipment purchase
  • Market intelligence on pricing, capacity and supply risk for a critical input
  • Owner-side procurement support during a project when the EPC is not procuring on your behalf

Technical considerations

What usually decides the outcome

  • Qualification before quotation

Time spent qualifying suppliers first prevents time lost evaluating quotations from those who could never have delivered.

  • Inspection is a documented programme

Factory audits, in-process inspection and final inspection are carried out by qualified parties against an agreed plan, with reports you own.

  • Total landed cost, not unit price

Packaging, freight, duties, inspection, warranty and after-sales service are included in every comparison.

  • Independence keeps the advice honest

MINCAT does not take commissions from suppliers; our recommendation is not influenced by who wins.

Scope and responsibility

What MINCAT does — and what qualified partners deliver

MINCAT is asset-light. The distinction between our coordination role and partner-delivered scope is stated in every proposal and contract.

MINCAT scope

Coordination, evaluation and support

  • Sourcing strategy and supplier identification
  • Technical and commercial qualification, due diligence coordination
  • Enquiry management, comparison and negotiation support
  • Coordination of inspection, expediting, QA/QC and logistics
  • Market intelligence and technical-commercial advisory on defined questions
Partner-delivered scope

Contracted directly with the qualified partner

  • Manufacture and supply — the qualified supplier
  • Factory audits, inspection and testing — accredited third parties
  • Freight, customs and delivery — logistics providers

Commercial and procurement considerations

How engagements are structured

  • Support can be scoped per programme, per project or as an ongoing arrangement with defined deliverables.
  • Fees are agreed in advance and are independent of supplier selection; no supplier commissions are taken.
  • Advisory work is delivered as written, reviewable output — comparison matrices, due-diligence reports, market notes.

Frequently asked

Questions we hear about strategic procurement

Does MINCAT take a commission from suppliers?
No. Our fee is agreed with you in advance and does not depend on which supplier is selected. Supply contracts are between you and the supplier.
Do you inspect factories yourselves?
Factory audits and inspections are carried out by qualified inspection parties under an agreed plan; MINCAT scopes, coordinates and reviews the results with you.
Can you work alongside our existing procurement team?
That is the normal arrangement. We add technical and market capability to your team's process rather than replacing it.
